Chicago Women’s Open: Rakhimova through to the quarte-finals after beating Ngounoue

Kamilla Rakhimova, the No 8 seed, moved into the quarter-finals of the Chicago Women’s Open by beating American wildcard and Junior Wimbledon champion Clervie Ngounoue in three sets (6-0, 5-7, 6-1) on Wednesday.
Rakhimova, ranked No 78, will now face the winner of the match between Frenchwoman Alize Cornet, the No 4 seed, and Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova.
Ahead of her victory, the 21-year-old won against Pole Katarzyna Kawa (6-1, 6-2). Clervie Ngounoue edged out Robin Anderson (6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-4) in the previous round.
