Bari Open: Fett knocked out

Slovak Rebecca Sramkova won against Croat Jana Fett 7-5, 6-3 to advance to the final of the Bari Open at Circolo Tennis Bari on Saturday evening.

Sramkova, ranked No 153, will play the winner of the match between Frenchwoman Alize Cornet, the top seed, and Slovenian Tamara Zidansek, the No 5 seed, next.

Ahead of her victory, the Slovak defeated Brazilian Laura Pigossi, the No 6 seed (6-3, 6-1), Russian Polina Kudermetova (7-6 (2), 3-6, 6-3) and Romanian Jaqueline Cristian, the second seed (6-2, 7-5).

Fett, ranked No 251, beat Spaniard Marina Bassols Ribera, the No 7 seed (6-3, 6-3), Cypriot Raluka Serban (6-4, 6-1) and Zeynep Sonmez (7-6 (1), 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
