Shanghai Masters: 12th seed Paul cruises into third round with win over Ofner

American Tommy Paul, the No 12 seed, moved into the third round of the Shanghai Masters by beating Austrian Sebastian Ofner 6-3, 6-0 at the Qi Zhong Stadium on Saturday.

Paul, ranked No 12, will play the winner of the match between Frenchman Arthur Fils and Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, the No 24 seed, next.

The American remains in contention for one of the final three spots at the season-ending ATP Finals in Turin next month.

Ofner, ranked No 49, won against Peruvian Juan Pablo Varillas (7-6 (3), 7-6 (6)) in the previous round of the tournament.
