Japanese wildcard Shintaro Mochizuki advanced to the second round of the Japan Open by beating Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry 6-4, 7-6 (5) at the Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo on Tuesday night.
Mochizuki, ranked No 215, will play American Taylor Fritz, the top seed, next.
