Belgian Elise Mertens, the second seed, beat Belarusian Iryna Shymanovich 6-3, 6-2 to advance to the last eight of the Jasmin Open at the Skanes Family Hotel Monastir on Wednesday afternoon.
Mertens, ranked No 36, will face the winner of the match between Argentinian Nadia Podoroska and Japanese Mai Hontama next.
The Belgian won against Filipino qualifier Alexandra Eala (7-5, 6-0) in the previous round of the Monastir tournament.
In the previous round of the Monastir tournament, Shymanovich, ranked No 176, defeated Brazilian Laura Pigossi (6-3, 6-2).
