Russian Andrey Rublev, the No 3 seed, reached the second round of the Vienna Open by beating Australian Alexei Popyrin 7-6 (5), 6-4 at the Wiener Stadthalle on Tuesday afternoon.
Rublev, ranked No 5, will face Italian Matteo Arnaldi next.
