WTA Elite Trophy: Haddad Maia beats Kasatkina to reach final
The Brazilian will face the winner of the second semi-final, an all-Chinese affair between Qinwen Zheng and Lin Zhu.

Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maia is through to the final of the WTA Elite Trophy in Zhuhai after a straight sets win over Russia’s Daria Kasatkina on Saturday.
After both players began the match on an equal footing, Haddad Maia broke the Russian’s serve in the 10th game on the first and only break point of the set to win it 6-4.
In the second, the Brazilian broke in the fourth game to go ahead 3-1 and then did not look back as she completed the 6-4, 6-1 win in one hour and 33 minutes. This was her second win in as many matches over the Russian.
Haddad Maia will face the winner of the second semi-final, an all-Chinese affair between Qinwen Zheng and Lin Zhu. She is yet to drop a set this week and is through to her first final in 2023.
The Brazilian is gunning for a double crown this weekend as she is also through to the doubles final along with partner Veronika Kudermetova.
