Frenchwoman Clara Burel, the second seed, beat German Mona Barthel 6-2, 7-6 (5) to move into the last eight of the Angers Open at the Arena Loire de Trélazé.
Burel, ranked No 60, will face the winner of the match between Romanian Andreea Mitu and Russian Erika Andreeva next.
In the previous round of the Angers tournament, the 22-year-old Frenchman beat Elsa Jacquemot (6-4, 6-4).
Barthel, ranked No 255, won against Liechtensteiner Kathinka von Deichmann (6-3, 7-6 (5)) in the previous round of the Angers tournament.
