Montevideo Open: Bulgaru fights back against Vedder to reach last eight

Romanian Miriam Bulgaru, the No 6 seed, advanced to the quarter-finals of the Montevideo Open by winning against Dutchwoman Eva Vedder 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 at the Carrasco Lawn Tennis Club.
Bulgaru, ranked No 199, will play the winner of the match between Romanian qualifier Gabriela Lee and Mexican Renata Zarazua, the second seed, next.
In the previous round of the Uruguayan tournament, the Romanian beat American qualifier Anna Rogers (6-1, 6-1).
Vedder, ranked No 375, defeated Brazilian Gabriela Ce (7-5, 6-4) in the first round of the Uruguayan tournament.
