American Robin Montgomery reached the last four of the Montevideo Open by winning against Swiss Ylena In-Albon 6-2, 6-1 at the Carrasco Lawn Tennis Club.
Montgomery, ranked No 218, will face Frenchwoman Diane Parry, the top seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the 19-year-old American beat Spaniard Leyre Romero Gormaz (7-6 (5), 6-3) and Argentinian Martina Capurro Taborda, the No 3 seed (6-1, 6-3).
In-Albon, ranked No 275, won against American Raveena Kingsley (6-3, 6-3) and Russian Daria Lodikova (6-2, 7-6 (4)) earlier in the tournament.
