The Elina Svitolina Foundation will take on the responsibility of managing Ukraine’s Billie Jean King Cup team until 2027.
In a press statement, the Ukrainian Tennis Federation said that the transfer of rights would help the development of women’s tennis in the country, with the president of the federation, Serhiy Lagur, saying: “The transfer of management of the national team is a step towards our goal of developing and popularising Ukrainian tennis. We hope that this cooperation will improve the results of our national team.”
Svitolina – the most successful Ukrainian player, having reached world No 3 and three Grand Slam semi-finals as well as winning an Olympic medal and the year-end finals – pointed to the current rise of Ukrainian players in the rankings. In the top 100, she is joined by Anhelina Kalinina (No 28), Lesia Tsurenko (No 31) and Marta Kostyuk (No 39), with Dayana Yastremska (No 102), Daria Snigur (No 134) and Kateryna Baindl (No 132) just outside it.
“Under the managementof the Foundation’s professional team, the national team can demonstrate a high level of results in the Billie Jean King Cup and the Women’s World Team Tennis Championships,” Svitolina said in a statement.
Svitolina’s Foundation was created in 2019 with the intent of identifying and supporting Ukrainian tennis talent.
