WTA Brisbane: Ostapenko beats Pliskova, faces Azarenka in quarter-finals
The former French Open champion defeated Karolina Pliskova 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 on Thursday

Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the No 3 seed, advanced to the quarter-finals of the Brisbane International by beating No 16 seed Karolina Pliskova 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 on Thursday.
Ostapenko, ranked No 12 in the world, will play Belarusian Victoria Azarenka, the No 8 seed, next.
In the previous round, the Latvian won against Italian Camila Giorgi (6-1, 6-4) while Pliskova, ranked No 39, edged out four-time Grand Slam winner Naomi Osaka (3-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4).
