ATP Brisbane: Rune ends Duckworth’s run; to meet Safiullin in semis
The top-seeded Dane beat James Duckworth 6-2, 7-6 (6) in the Brisbane quarter-finals on Friday

Denmark’s Holger Rune, the top seed, reached the semi-finals of the Brisbane Open by defeating Australian qualifier James Duckworth 6-2, 7-6 (6) at the Queensland Tennis Centre on Friday.
Rune, ranked No 8, will play Russian Roman Safiullin next.
Earlier in the tournament, the 20-year-old Dane won against Australian Max Purcell (4-6, 6-4, 6-2) and Russian Alexander Shevchenko (6-4, 5-7, 6-2).
Duckworth, ranked No 116, won against American J.J. Wolf (6-3, 6-4) and edged out German Yannick Hanfmann (4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (2)) in the previous rounds of the Brisbane tournament.
