Thailand Open: Putintseva edges past Golubic to reach quarter-finals
Yulia Putintseva beat Viktorija Golubic 7-6, 7-6 (1) on Wednesday and will face Chinese Xinyu Wang, the No 3 seed, in the next round

Kazakh Yulia Putintseva, the No 7 seed, reached the last eight of the Thailand Open by beating Swiss Viktorija Golubic 7-6, 7-6 (1) at the True Arena Hua Hin.
Putintseva, ranked No 70, will play Chinese Xinyu Wang, the No 3 seed, next.
The Kazakh won against Thai wildcard Thasaporn Naklo (5-7, 6-3, 6-2) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round of the Hua Hin tournament, Golubic, ranked No 71, defeated Brazilian Laura Pigossi (6-1, 6-2).
