Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open: Samsonova moves into last eight

Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the No 8 seed, defeated Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina 6-1, 6-3 to move into the last eight of the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open at the International Tennis Centre, Zayed Sports City on Thursday.

Samsonova, ranked No 15, will play No 4 seed Barbora Krejcikova next.

The Russian won against Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko (6-0, 6-1) in the previous round of the Abu Dhabi tournament.

In the previous round of the Abu Dhabi tournament, Kalinina, ranked No 32, won against Italian lucky loser Lucia Bronzetti (6-1, 7-6 (1)).
