Sakkari overcomes Navarro to reach Indian Wells quarter-finals
Maria Sakkari wrapped up the order of play on Thursday with a three-set victory over Emma Navarro. Coco Gauff is next up for Swiatek in the semi-finals.

Maria Sakkari made a return trip to the BNP Paribas Open semi-finals by beating an in-form Emma Navarro 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Thursday night. Sakkari, the 2022 Indian Wells runner-up and also a semi-finalist in 2023, prevailed after two hours and 54 minutes.
The ninth-ranked Greek will face No 3 seed Coco Gauff on Friday. Gauff booked her spot in the last four with a straight-set victory over Yue Yuan.
Earlier in the tournament Sakkari defeated Russian Diana Shnaider (5-7, 6-4, 6-0), Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, the No 20 seed (6-3, 6-4) and Frenchwoman Diane Parry (6-2, 3-6, 6-3).
It was still a productive fortnight for Navarro, who has been in outstanding form this entire season. The 23rd-ranked American advanced to the quarter-finals by beating Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko (4-6, 7-5, 7-5), Ukrainian Elina Svitolina, the No 16 seed (6-1, 4-6, 6-3) and Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, the second seed (6-3, 3-6, 6-2).
