Pole Iga Swiatek, the top seed, beat Greek Maria Sakkari, the No 9 seed, 6-4, 6-0 to win the Indian Wells tournament at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Sunday evening.
In the previous rounds of the Indian Wells tournament, Swiatek, ranked No 1, defeated American Danielle Collins (6-3, 6-0), No 26 seed Linda Noskova (6-4, 6-0), Kazakh Yulia Putintseva (6-1, 6-2), Dane wildcard Caroline Wozniacki (6-4, 1-0 ret.) and Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, the No 31 seed (6-2, 6-1).
Sakkari, ranked No 9, defeated Russian Diana Shnaider (5-7, 6-4, 6-0), Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, the No 20 seed (6-3, 6-4), Frenchwoman Diane Parry (6-2, 3-6, 6-3), American Emma Navarro, the No 23 seed (5-7, 6-2, 6-4) and American Coco Gauff, the No 3 seed (6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-2) earlier in the tournament.
