French lucky loser Richard Gasquet beat Austrian Dominic Thiem 6-4, 7-6 (6) to advance to the quarter-finals of the Estoril Open at Clube de Ténis do Estoril on Thursday afternoon.
Gasquet, ranked No 122, saved two set points in the second set, at 6-4 down in the tiebreak, and will now play the winner of the match between Pedro Martinez and Roberto Bautista Agut.
Thiem, ranked No 91, edged out German Maximilian Marterer (6-1, 6-7 (3), 6-4) in the previous round of the Estoril tournament.
