Argentinian Facundo Diaz Acosta defeated Croat Borna Coric, the No 15 seed, 6-2, 7-5 to reach the last 16 of the Barcelona Open at Real Club de Tenis Barcelona on Tuesday.
Acosta, ranked No 53, will face the winner of the match between Hungarian Fabian Marozsan, the No 17 seed, and Frenchman Luca Van Assche next.
In the previous round of the Barcelona tournament, the Argentinian won against Spanish wildcard Daniel Rincon (6-1, 6-4).
