Dane Clara Tauson, the No 4 seed, beat Spaniard Nuria Parrizas Diaz 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Oeiras Ladies Open on Wednesday afternoon.
Tauson, ranked No 87, will play the winner of the match between Portuguese wildcard Matilde Jorge and No 5 seed Harriet Dart next.
The 21-year-old Dane won against Frenchwoman Carole Monnet (6-3, 6-1) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Parrizas Diaz, ranked No 129, won against American qualifier Maria Mateas (6-3, 4-6, 6-3).
