Roland-Garros: Ruud goes the distance against Davidovich Fokina

Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 7 seed, won against Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 7-6 (5), 1-6, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 to advance to the third round of Roland-Garros at Roland-Garros in Paris on Thursday evening.

Ruud, ranked No 7, will face the winner of the match between Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry, the No 28 seed, and Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech next.

The Norwegian defeated Brazilian qualifier Felipe Meligeni Alves (6-3, 6-4, 6-3) in the previous round of the Roland-Garros 2024.

In the first round of the Roland-Garros 2024, Davidovich Fokina, ranked No 32, edged out Monégasque qualifier Valentin Vacherot (4-6, 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (2)).
