Katie Boulter defeated Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the No 5 seed, 6-4, 7-5 to advance to the last eight of the Eastbourne Open at Devonshire Park Lawn Club on Wednesday afternoon.
Boulter, ranked No 32, will play the winner of the match between Belgian Elise Mertens and Italian Jasmine Paolini, the No 3 seed, next.
In the previous round of the Eastbourne tournament, Katie Boulter won against Croat lucky loser Petra Martic (6-1, 7-6 (8)).
Ostapenko, ranked No 13, won against Belgian qualifier Greet Minnen (7-6 (3), 6-1) in the previous round of the Eastbourne tournament.
