Eastbourne Open: Fritz edges past Shang to reach last four

American Taylor Fritz, the top seed, beat Chinese qualifier Juncheng Shang 7-6 (5), 7-6 (5) to reach the last four of the Eastbourne Open at the Devonshire Park Lawn Tennis Club.
Fritz, ranked No 13, will face Australian lucky loser Aleksandar Vukic next.
In the previous round of the Eastbourne tournament, the American won against Brazilian Thiago Seyboth Wild (7-6 (4), 6-3).
Shang, ranked No 104, edged out Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry, the No 7 seed (7-5, 3-6, 7-6 (4)) and Finn Emil Ruusuvuori (4-6, 6-3, 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
