Italian Jasmine Paolini, the No 7 seed, edged out Croat Donna Vekic 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (8) to reach the final of Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
Paolini, ranked No 7, will play the winner of the match between No 31 seed Barbora Krejcikova and Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No 4 seed, next.
The Italian beat Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo (7-5, 6-3), Belgian Greet Minnen (7-6 (5), 6-2), Canadian Bianca Andreescu (7-6 (4), 6-1), American Madison Keys, the No 12 seed (6-3, 6-7 (6), 5-5 ret.) and American Emma Navarro, the No 19 seed (6-2, 6-1) ahead of her victory.
In the previous rounds of The Championships, Vekic, ranked No 37, won against Chinese Xiyu Wang (3-6, 6-3, 6-4), Russian lucky loser Erika Andreeva (6-2, 6-3), Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska, the No 28 seed (7-6 (4), 6-7 (3), 6-1), Spaniard Paula Badosa (6-2, 1-6, 6-4) and New Zealander qualifier Lulu Sun (5-7, 6-4, 6-1).
