No 3 seed Alex Michelsen reached the semi-finals of the Hall of Fame Open by winning against Aleksandar Kovacevic 6-4, 6-4 at the International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum in Newport on Thursday evening.
Michelsen, ranked No 61, will play the winner of the match between wildcard Reilly Opelka and Mackenzie McDonald next.
Alex Michelsen beat Maxime Cressy (6-4, 6-4) in the previous round of the Newport tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, Kovacevic, ranked No 91, defeated Frenchman Harold Mayot (7-6 (1), 6-4) and edged out Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech, the No 7 seed (6-3, 3-6, 7-5).
