Italian Luciano Darderi, the No 5 seed, beat Croat Duje Ajdukovic 6-1, 6-4 to advance to the second round of the Croatia Open at the ITC Stella Maris in Umag on Tuesday.
Darderi, ranked No 33, will play Jakub Mensik next.
