Djokovic to skip Montreal Masters this year

World No 2 Novak Djokovic has pulled out from the National Bank Open ATP Masters Series in Montreal this year.

The 37-year-old is a four-time champion at the Canadian Masters but has not played in the event since 2018.

The remaining nine players in the world’s top 10, including world No 1 Jannik Sinner and world No 3 Carlos Alcaraz, have entered the tournament as of now.

Djokovic is currently in Paris competing in the Olympics and is through to the third round of the men’s singles event after a straight-sets win over arch-rival Rafael Nadal on Monday.

The Serb, who is still looking for his first title of the season, is currently 25-7 for the season on the tour, including the Olympics, is expected to play the Cincinnati Masters before heading to New York for the US Open.
