German Tatjana Maria, the top seed, won against Colombian wildcard Maria Herazo Gonzalez 6-0, 6-1 to advance to the last 16 of the Barranquilla Open on Tuesday.
Maria, ranked No 71, will face the winner of the match between Elizabeth Mandlik and qualifier Jessica Failla next.
