US Open: Borges overcomes Tsitsipas-slayer Kokkinakis, through to third round

Portuguese Nuno Borges advanced to the third round of the US Open by beating Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis 6-4, 7-5, 7-5 on Thursday.
Borges, ranked No 34, will play the winner of the match between Australian wildcard Tristan Schoolkate and Jakub Mensik next.
The Portuguese won against Argentinian Federico Coria (6-2, 6-4, 6-1) ahead of his victory.
In the previous round of the US Open, Kokkinakis, ranked No 86, edged out Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 11 seed (7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-3, 7-5).
