US Open: Fritz eases past Comesana, moves into last 16
Taylor Fritz beat Francisco Comesana 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 and will face the winner of the match between Casper Ruud and Juncheng Shang in the next round

American Taylor Fritz, the No 12 seed, reached the last 16 of the US Open by defeating Argentinian Francisco Comesana 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
Fritz, ranked No 12, will play the winner of the match between Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 8 seed, and Chinese Juncheng Shang next.
The American won against Argentinian Camilo Ugo Carabelli (7-5, 6-1, 6-2) and Italian Matteo Berrettini (6-3, 7-6 (1), 6-1) ahead of his victory.
In the previous rounds of the US Open, Comesana, ranked No 108, beat Swiss Dominic Stricker (4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4), 6-3) and edged out Frenchman Ugo Humbert, the No 17 seed (5-7, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4).
