Chengdu Open: Shang overcomes Safiullin to book spot in last 8
Juncheng Shang defeated Roman Safiullin 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 on Saturday afternoon and will play Kazakh Alexander Bublik, the second seed, in the next round

Chinese Juncheng Shang beat Russian Roman Safiullin, the No 8 seed, 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the last eight of the Chengdu Open at the Sichuan International Tennis Center on Saturday.
Shang, ranked No 67, will play Kazakh Alexander Bublik, the second seed, next.
The 19-year-old Chinese won against Japanese wildcard Kei Nishikori (6-4, 6-4) ahead of his victory.
In the previous round of the Chengdu tournament, Safiullin, ranked No 56, edged out Italian Fabio Fognini (6-3, 4-6, 6-4).
