Japan Open: Navone moves into second round
The Argentine will face the winner of the match between Reilly Opelka and No 8 seed Ben Shelton in the next round

Argentina’s Mariano Navone advanced to the second round of the Japan Open by winning against Italian Luciano Darderi 6-4, 6-4 at the Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo on Wednesday.
Navone, ranked No 40, will face the winner of the all-American battle match between Reilly Opelka and No 8 seed Ben Shelton next.
This was only Navone’s second career win on hardcourts at the ATP Tour level. This was the seventh meeting on the pro tour between the two players – all coming over the past two seasons – with the Argentine now leading the series 4-3.
