European Open: Navone saves MPs against Monteiro
Mariano Navone edged out Thiago Monteiro 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (6) on Monday. He’ll face the winner of the match between Russian qualifier Alexey Vatutin and Frenchman Hugo Gaston in the next round

Argentinian Mariano Navone, the No 7 seed, moved into the second round of the European Open by edging out Brazilian Thiago Monteiro 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (6) at the Lotto Arena in Antwerp on Monday.
Monteiro held a match point on Navone’s serve in the 10th game of the third set, and also at 6-5 in the deciding tiebreak, but was unable to capitalise.
Navone, ranked No 43, will face the winner of the match between Russian qualifier Alexey Vatutin and Frenchman Hugo Gaston next.
