Frenchman Adrian Mannarino, the No 8 seed, won against Russian Roman Safiullin 5-7, 7-6 (4), 6-3 to move into the second round of the Almaty Open at Almaty Arena on Tuesday.
Mannarino, ranked No 56, will face the winner of the match between James Duckworth and Aleksandar Vukic next.
