Abierto Tampico: Blinkova advances to final

Russian Anna Blinkova, the No 5 seed, moved into the final of the Abierto Tampico by defeating Canadian Rebecca Marino 7-6 (8), 6-7 (4), 6-2 on Friday.
Blinkova, ranked No 85, will play the winner of the match between Canadian qualifier Marina Stakusic and Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo, the No 6 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the Russian won against Slovak Veronika Erjavec (6-3, 6-0), Anastasia Tikhonova (6-0, 6-7 (4), 6-1) and American qualifier Varvara Lepchenko (6-2, 6-4).
Marino, ranked No 118, beat Mexican wildcard Jessica Hinojosa Gomez (6-1, 6-0), Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle, the No 3 seed (7-6 (5), 6-4) and Australian Maya Joint, the No 8 seed (6-2, 6-3) in the previous rounds.
