Colombian Emiliana Arango edged out Hungarian Panna Udvardy, the No 7 seed, 2-6, 6-2, 7-6 (5) to reach the final of the WTA $125K Bolivia Open on Saturday.
Arango, ranked No 234, will face the winner of the match between Latvian Darja Semenistaja, the No 5 seed, and Romanian Anca Todoni, the No 6 seed, next.
The Colombian won against Egyptian Mayar Sherif, the top seed (2-1 ret.), Chilean wildcard Antonia Vergara Rivera (6-0, 6-2) and Spaniard Leyre Romero Gormaz (7-5, 6-1) earlier in the week.
In the previous rounds, Udvardy, ranked No 157, defeated German Noma Noha Akugue (6-3, 6-1), Slovak Veronika Erjavec (6-4, 6-3) and Croat Tara Wurth (6-2, 6-2).
