Italian Nuria Brancaccio advanced to the quarter-finals of the Fifth Third Charleston 125 2 by defeating American Alycia Parks, the second seed, 6-1, 6-3.
Brancaccio, ranked No 211, will face the winner of the match between Spaniard Leyre Romero Gormaz, the No 5 seed, and Pole Gina Feistel next.
Ahead of her victory, the Italian won against Austrian Sinja Kraus (6-4, 6-4).
Parks, ranked No 111, beat Victoria Hu (6-2, 6-2) in the previous round.
