Canadian qualifier Gabriel Diallo edged out Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena 4-6, 7-6 (4), 7-5 to move into the second round of the Hong Kong Open at the Victoria Park Tennis Centre on Tuesday.
Diallo, ranked No 87, will play second seed Lorenzo Musetti next.
