Russian Anastasia Potapova reached the last 16 of the Brisbane Open by winning against Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska, the No 16 seed, 7-5, 6-4 at the Queensland Tennis Centre on Wednesday.
Potapova, ranked No 35, will face Australian wildcard Kimberly Birrell next.
The Russian benefited from the abandonment of Romanian qualifier Ana Bogdan (2-6, 6-4, 2-0) ahead of her victory.
