Australian Open: Sonego makes last 16 for first time
Lorenzo Sonego won against Fabian Marozsan 6-7 (3), 7-6 (6), 6-1, 6-2 on Saturday night and will face American qualifier Learner Tien in the next round

Italian Lorenzo Sonego moved into the last 16 of the Australian Open for the first time in his career by beating Hungarian Fabian Marozsan 6-7 (3), 7-6 (6), 6-1, 6-2 at Melbourne Park on Saturday.
Sonego, ranked No 55, will face American qualifier Learner Tien next.
The Italian edged out Swiss wildcard Stan Wawrinka (6-4, 5-7, 7-5, 7-5) and won against Brazilian qualifier Joao Fonseca (6-7 (6), 6-3, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3) in the previous rounds of the first Grand Slam tournament in 2025.
Earlier in the tournament, Marozsan, ranked No 59, won against Brazilian Thiago Seyboth Wild (6-3, 6-7 (5), 7-5, 5-7, 7-5) and American Frances Tiafoe, the No 17 seed (6-7 (3), 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1).
