Australian wildcard Kimberly Birrell advanced to the second round of the Singapore Open by winning against Russian Polina Kudermetova, the No 5 seed, 6-3, 6-2 at the Kallang Tennis Hub.
Birrell, ranked No 95, will face the winner of the match between Mexican Renata Zarazua and American Hailey Baptiste next.
