L & T Mumbai Open: Tararudee makes last eight

Thai Lanlana Tararudee moved into the quarter-finals of the L & T Mumbai Open by winning against Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, the No 3 seed, 7-6 (5), 6-4 on Wednesday.
Tararudee, ranked No 175, will play the winner of the match between Thai Mananchaya Sawangkaew, the No 8 seed, and Linda Fruhvirtova next.
Ahead of her victory, the 20-year-old Thai beat Indian wildcard Sahaja Yamalapalli (6-3, 4-6, 6-1).
Schmiedlova, ranked No 118, defeated Australian qualifier Tina Nadine Smith (6-7 (2), 6-4, 6-1) in the previous round.
