Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open: Linette books spot in last eight

Pole Magda Linette advanced to the last eight of the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open when Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, the No 6 seed, retired at the International Tennis Centre, Zayed Sports City on Wednesday.
Linette, ranked No 38, led 5-7, 4-1 when Pavlyuchenkova, ranked No 26, pulled out.
The Pole will face Linda Noskova next.
Ahead of her victory, Magda Linette defeated Mexican qualifier Renata Zarazua (6-4, 7-6 (6)).
The 33-year-old Russian won against American qualifier Sofia Kenin (6-3, 6-1) in the previous round of the Abu Dhabi tournament.
