Cluj-Napoca Open: Top seed Potapova reaches first final since 2023

Russian Anastasia Potapova, the top seed, reached the final of the Cluj-Napoca Open by defeating Belarusian lucky loser Aliaksandra Sasnovich 6-3, 7-5 at the BT Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Potapova, ranked No 32, will play the winner of the match between Italian Lucia Bronzetti and No 5 seed Katerina Siniakova next. It’s her first final since 2023 but sixth in all.
Ahead of her victory, the Russian won against Austrian Julia Grabher (6-4, 6-0), Swiss Viktorija Golubic (6-4, 7-5) and German qualifier Ella Seidel (6-2, 6-3).
Sasnovich, ranked No 128, beat Spaniard Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, the No 6 seed (6-7, 7-5, 6-4), Canadian qualifier Marina Stakusic (6-3, 7-5) and Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina, the No 4 seed (2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (3)) earlier in the tournament.
