Delray Beach Open: Davidovich Fokina makes quarter-finals

Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, the No 8 seed, beat American wildcard Mackenzie McDonald 6-2, 5-7, 6-0 to move into the last eight of the Delray Beach Open at the Delray Beach Stadium and Tennis Center on Thursday evening.

Davidovich Fokina, ranked No 60, will face the winner of the match between American Taylor Fritz, the top seed, and Chinese Yunchaokete Bu next.

The Spaniard won against Japanese lucky loser Taro Daniel (6-2, 7-6 (2)) ahead of his victory.

In the previous round of the Delray Beach tournament, McDonald, ranked No 123, edged out Japanese Kei Nishikori (7-6 (4), 4-6, 7-5).
