Australian lucky loser Adam Walton advanced to the last 16 of the Miami Masters by edging out wildcard Chak Lam Coleman Wong 7-6 (6), 4-6, 6-4 at the Hard Rock Stadium on Monday.
Walton, ranked No 89, will play the winner of the match between American Taylor Fritz, the No 3 seed, and Canadian Denis Shapovalov, the No 27 seed, next.
The Australian defeated Italian Luciano Darderi (6-4, 6-4) in the previous round of the Miami Open.
Earlier in the tournament, Wong, ranked No 182, won against German Daniel Altmaier (6-4, 6-3) and edged out American Ben Shelton, the No 13 seed (7-6 (3), 2-6, 7-6 (5)).
