Monte-Carlo Masters: Davidovich Fokina advances to last four
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina won against Alexei Popyrin 6-3, 6-2 on Friday and will play the winner of the match between Frenchman Arthur Fils, the No 12 seed, and Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the second seed, in the next round

Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina defeated Australian Alexei Popyrin 6-3, 6-2 to reach the semi-finals of the Monte-Carlo Masters.
Davidovich Fokina, ranked No 42, will face the winner of the match between Frenchman Arthur Fils, the No 12 seed, and Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the second seed, next.
Earlier in the tournament, the Spaniard won against American Ben Shelton, the No 11 seed (6-7 (2), 6-2, 6-1), Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry (7-6 (2), 6-3) and No 5 seed Jack Draper (6-3, 6-7 (6), 6-4).
“I said yesterday that the match was a rollercoaster,” Fokina said after reaching the last four. “I said to my team this is not the way I want to play anymore. I did a big work on my mental to be more focus today and control my emotions. I feel good in 2025, I’m more mature and I’m winning more matches.”
Popyrin, ranked No 27, beat Frenchman Ugo Humbert (3-6, 7-6 (2), 6-4), American Frances Tiafoe, the No 14 seed (3-6, 6-3, 6-3) and Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 4 seed (6-4, 3-6, 7-5) in the previous rounds of the Monte-Carlo tournament.
