Swiatek and Ostapenko in same half of Madrid Open draw, Sabalenka heads the field

Iga Swiatek and Jelena Ostapenko could clash again in the coming few days after the two landed in the same half of the 2025 Madrid Open draw, which was unveiled on Sunday.

The Swiatek-Ostapenko match-ups have become increasingly intriguing in the recent past, with the Latvian remaining invincible in all six duels played thus far.

Moreover, Ostapenko scored one against Swiatek on clay, the Pole’s favourite surface, by outplaying her in the Stuttgart Open quarter-finals on Saturday. The two could play in the fourth round in Madrid.

World No 2 Swiatek will lead the bottom half of the women’s draw, with in-form Ostapenko positioned only a few sections away from her.
