Japanese Naomi Osaka, the second seed, advanced to the last eight of the L’Open 35 de Saint Malo by edging out Frenchwoman Diane Parry 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 on Thursday.
Osaka, ranked No 55, will play Frenchwoman Elsa Jacquemot next.
Ahead of her victory, the Japanese won against Croat Petra Marcinko (6-2, 6-1).
Parry, ranked No 116, beat Jessika Ponchet (6-2, 6-2) in the previous round.
