American Katie Volynets, the No 9 seed, moved into the second round of the Rabat Open by beating Brazilian lucky loser Carolina M. Alves 6-3, 6-0 at Union Sportive des Cheminots du Maroc on Monday.
Volynets, ranked No 64, will face the winner of the match between Croat Ana Konjuh and Australian Maya Joint next.
